2010 Grant Cottage Special Events
August 28, 1 p.m.
Saturday on the Porch; Duncan McGregor
With wood he had harvested, then planed and finished in his own sawmill, he erected the building that would become Grant Cottage. Some claimed he was a direct descendant of Rob Roy—Scotland's Robin Hood—and that he shared Rob Roy's wild, defiant spirit.
There's a possibility that Ulysses S. Grant and he shared a common Scottish ancestor. He was more than a businessman from Glens Falls. Meet the man for whom the mountain was named: Duncan McGregor.
Saturday, September 4th, 3-7 p.m.
Meet Joan Waugh
At New York State Military Museum, Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs
Come and meet Joan Waugh, author of U.S.Grant: American Hero, American Myth.
Dr. Waugh will present an overview of her book and then join us for refreshments and a booksigning. Books will be available for purchase. This is a not-to-be-missed event if you love history, the Civil War, and General Grant.
Come and meet this much-acclaimed writer right here in your own backyard. Attendees will also receive a museums pass to visit Grant Cottage (and other area museums) at a buy one, get one ticket.
